Luis Mora, founder of Grotto Cellars, started the company after working as a Sommelier for a high-end restaurant in Southern California. Mora’s interaction with sophisticated wine connoisseurs at the restaurant helped him recognize the need for reliable and attractive wine storage. Being able to identify their need to build a wine cellar, the idea for Grotto Cellars turned into a reality.
Grotto Cellars takes a consultative approach with you to discuss your need for custom wine cellars. You may want to install a custom wine storage solution to showcase your wine collection or simply store a large capacity of wine in a small space. Our design consultants will sit down with you and discuss your requirements, the specific bottle shapes in your collection, and take your needs into consideration before designing the custom wine cellar of your dreams.
Our wine racks are created from the beginning to fit a variety of wine bottle shapes. From a slender Cabernet Sauvignon to a thick Burgundy shape, Grotto Cellar’s racks will be a perfect fit with a specialized thicker wine slot to comfortably store your wine. Our ‘Easy Edge’ wine slots will hold your wine bottles at a sharp ninety degree angle but prevent your labels from ripping or tearing when you handle your wine.

Collectors are different from clients because they view wine on a completely different level. Our business was created to help passionate collectors store their wine. Our experienced design consultants have been with Grotto Cellars for years. With experience, we have to have the expertise to deliver to make the construction of your wine cellar a reality. At Grotto, we have our own system and manufacturing plant in Mexico, so we work directly with CAD designers who are licensed architects at our plant.

Experience, Expertise, and Quality Wine Cellar Designs
With our experience and expertise, Grotto Cellars can produce the perfect custom wine cellar with a mockup for you to review after speaking with our qualifed Design Consultants. Building a wine cellar in your home has never been easier. Our design consultants have all the CAD capabilities of producing on paper what will end up as a reality. Once we receive the specifications of the room from you, your preferences in wood species, and any other specific needs, that information goes directly to our design office. Shortly after, we create a beautiful 3D and 2D rendering at no cost that gives the collector a bird’s-eye view of their new custom wine cellar. At that point, the design consultant and collector will go through the drawings to make any changes necessary before creating second or third versions (if necessary) to iron out the details. Once the design is complete, the wood racks go into production and your wine cellar construction can begin.

Building a custom wine cellar and individual wine racks typically requires a six to eight weeks installation time frame. During that time, refrigeration or cooling units are being installed, custom entry wine doors are being manufactured, and the wall work (meaning the vapor barrier and insulation) is also being completed. When the finished wine racks are shipped, installation of the wine furniture is the last touch to making your room complete.
